Partner Agency Highlight: The Life Foundation

Second Helpings Atlanta is proud to spotlight our partner agencies’ remarkable work tackling summer hunger this summer. As a logistics non-profit, Second Helpings Atlanta rescues and distributes an average of 12,000 meals each day to support the feeding programs of organizations across our network of non-profit partners throughout the metro Atlanta area.

Recently, we had the opportunity to immerse ourselves in the impactful work of the Life Foundation. This organization is committed to providing financial and material support to college students and their families, allowing them to concentrate on their studies and the path to graduation. The Life Foundation offers essential items such as clothing, cooking utensils, and bed linens. Most importantly, they provide crucial food assistance to students and their families.

We witnessed firsthand the significant impact of our food rescue efforts at the Life Foundation. We gained a comprehensive understanding of their food distribution processes and captured stories that truly embody our mission. One such story involved a food donation that included birthday cakes. The Life Foundation used this donation to help a mother in need celebrate her daughter’s 7th birthday. The Life Foundation provided the cake and party essentials like plates, cups, and streamers.

Shannon, a representative of the Life Foundation, shared an inspiring account of how a college student saved enough money on food through the Life Foundation’s programming that they were able to pay their phone bill that month. With the increased demand for food assistance when school is out, particularly in the summer, the Life Foundation anticipates a higher influx of youth seeking support.

As more students discover the quality food made available by Second Helpings Atlanta’s partnership with the Life Foundation, especially those catering to specific dietary needs, the Life Foundation expects to serve even more students this summer. Since the start of the year, Second Helpings Atlanta has provided enough food for over 6,000 meals to the Life Foundation and the families and youth they serve.

The Life Foundation is dedicated to assisting college youth and their families in need. We are proud to partner with the Life Foundation this summer and throughout the year. With our food donors, food rescue volunteers, generous supporters, and partner agencies like the Life Foundation, we ensure that no child goes hungry this summer.
